THE BRAND

Why does a small manufacturer located in rural Bavaria name their pipe filters after white elephants? Our filters used to be available only with granulated Meerschaum. Meerschaum is a highly absorptive magnesium silicate, and at the same time cools down the smoke wonderfully. Almost every seasoned pipe smoker will have at least one Meerschaum pipe in his pipe cabinet. The material does not feel hot in your hands and the aroma of the tobacco can fully unfold. Meerschaum is mined by hand in tunnels as deep as 80 meters. The only known deposits are found in Tansania and in Turkey. All our Meerschaum used to come from Tansania. Having this beautiful white colour, the name was born quite fast.
